HI, I NEED advice please.... Iv herniated the l4-L5 for over 10 years. This last episode when I tweaked it, I was in a wheelchair for 2 weeks, had severe leg pain. fast forward 8 months later my leg pain and foot numbness has almost completely gone away, BUT I'm having severe paint at the disc location, any time I bend or twist a certain direction, instant shock of pain. Mornings I'm very very stiff. I cant stand for more than 2 minutes without becoming very uncomfortable in my back. My surgeon is suggesting not to do the surgery because I'm not having the pain down the leg, hes also saying if he does the fusion he cant guarantee the pain I'm having at the L4L5 will go away. Im 38 Very fit non smoker, 190 lbs.. please help. also the steroid injection made me feel amazing but wore off after 10 days,.

One day I was doing light work, my back got more painful than usual😮. The next morning I couldn't pee. I got a catheter and a urologist appointment. A doctor I know said cauda equina syndrome. I got the operation 2 weeks later. Now I'm recovering. I can control my peeing, and a lot of continuous pain is gone. In 2 weeks I see the surgeon for an X- ray and a discussion. I hope I'll be able to get back to full function, working and sports. I guess I'll find out.

Very useful thankyou. I'm currently awaiting this surgery on my c5. My symptoms are quite bad. Hands numb and tight. Constant cramp in my hands and some of my arm area. Hands constantly feel cold. Tightness in my knees. I'm hoping I'm in the third of people who gets symptom relief. Had this for 16 months now. I stumble a lot and have fallen a few times. Once braking my arm. Can't wait to feel good and normal again. I feel 20 years older since i had my spine injury. Good luck to everyone else going thru this 🙏 ❤

@nurseida6195 , i feel ua there. 33y/o facing this. Already have 2 fusions under my belt of T10-L2 at 13y/o & T12-pelvis at 30 y/o. Hoping this fixed the bowling ball bobblehead that really wants to roll down Gravity Lane to rest between my feet...or whereever it ends up haha. What else can ya do but continue to remain humerusly-hinged? (Spelling intended, replaced an elbow with an elboob after tangling with Mack truck v hatchback. Doon ad that 2 yr recovery was up my connective tissue disltder made my spine be like "As you've only just gotten past all that bloody mess with fractured ribs, femurs, patellas, a tibia, sternum, forearm bones, & lost an olecranon process yhays probably some coyote scat these days, sooo time for me to do one of the nosedives alluded yo in this clip (albeit, fortunately not cevical hey at that point), to the loint ya can't walk. Just cause you need a lil more back bling." So glad i did that pne though. Gave me another 3 yrs to enjoy fksbing with my lucky left arm which was almost amputated mlre times than its finhers can count & to enjoy a relative mobility, all things considered! 🤙🏻 For all those thinking of taking stock in the advice of the naysayers commenting on this thread- listen to your physician with an actual medical degree, rather than the wannabes who are spouting off misleading statements without a shred of coherence in their claims of BS like our body's losing the elasticity of its Botox supply, pre-injection. 🤣 PS - the boxh xles NOT produce Botox. It is a paralytuc agent which was initilly diacovered in nature. Presumably, they meant to say collagen loses elastjcity as a jayural part of the aging process...point being, listen to your REAL doc & take any of the information contained in this extremely well-executed presentation frkm another REAL doc, + any patient experiences you would like, & eont listeb to the surgery slammers. When utilized appropriately by a qualified surgeon, procedures shch as these can 100% restoree functionality and patient quality of life, period. I'm living proof! (I'll take those future commisions any day now, doc) 😂

I am on day 10 post op of MIS-TLIF This video convinced me to go ahead with the surgery boy I am glad I did. Even in the recovery room I had relief down my left side. I have some pain at the surgery site however the nerve pain is gone. I do not know if I am just lucky in this experience or not. I feel I had a great surgical team I carefully follow the recovery guidelines. Dr. Armaghani's Video is very good accurate as to what the surgery was like and initial recovery has been. I had suffered with this condition for several years maybe I should have done it sooner. My Surgery was called MIS (minimally invasive surgery) as opposed to Open TLIF it could be the reason I feel optimistic and happy about my chances of a good recovery.

I just had this TLIF done on my L4/L5 area. My nerve pain usually comes to my right foot on top or back my toes. That can cover big toe to 3rd or 4th toe. After the surgery, the pain still remain there after almost 7 weeks. Although my first injury occurred in 02/2023, having this surgery now in 04/2024. Do you think i could have permanent nerve damage since i waited too long to proceed surgery? Or I am still in the recovery stage? thanks!

  • @Enforcer_WJDE

I don't understand why you would remove the spinous process with the ligaments and interupt the natural stablilisation of the spine upwards and downwards when you only need to remove bone left and right... I heard of patients getting more wear on the other vertebrae because of this.

I just has a 2 level lumbar spinal fusion from L3 to L5. My surgeon had trouble placing the cage from a TLIF at L4/L5. I still have significant foramina stenosis at that level and I am wondering if an ALIF would be the best follow up. Is placement of the cage guaranteed with ALIF or might he still not be able to get a cage placed? Or would a better follow up be a decompression?.
